New Cat C18 ACERT auxiliary/generator set marine engine
|
Information from Caterpillar:
Cat C32 ACERT and Cat C18 ACERT auxiliary/generator
set marine engines available – EPA Tier 2-compliant packages provide substantial power for ocean-going, commercial and mega yacht applications
The electronically governed Cat® C32 ACERT™ engine is specifically designed to match 50 Hz (1,500 rpm) or 60 Hz (1,800 rpm) generators. This engine provides customers with a more comprehensive power offering, enabling them to enjoy the benefit of dealing with one supplier for both propulsion and auxiliary power.
Using ACERT Technology, the C32 marine engine provides the very best in durability, reliability and fuel efficiency. It includes the latest Mechanically actuated Electronically controlled Unit Injection (MEUI) fuel system, a state-of-the-art Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and optimised turbocharging and aftercooling. These features combine to deliver excellent fuel economy, particularly at part load, reduced emission levels and reliable maximum power output.
The C32 ACERT auxiliary/generator set engine meets current EPA Tier 2 and IMO emissions regulations. Marine Classification Society (MCS) approvals have been received from ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, KR and LR. The vee-type, 12-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine with a isplacement of 32.1 litres is manufactured in Caterpillar’s innovative Marine Center of Excellence (MCOE) in Greenville, South Carolina, USA.
Similar to the C32 ACERT design, the new Cat C18 ACERT auxiliary/generator set marine engine balances power density, fuel efficiency and emissions reduction to perfectly match 50 Hz (1,500 rpm) or 60 Hz (1,800 rpm) generators. This EPA Tier 2 and IMO-compliant, in-line, 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine offers 145 mm bore and 183 mm stroke totalling 18.12 litres displacement. MCS certifications have been received from ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, KR, LR and RS.
RINA certification is expected short term.
The new Cat C-series auxiliary/generator set marine engines combine most-modern design with high-quality manufacturing, built on the reliable platform of about 6,000 Cat C18 and C32 marine engines sold to date. Ship owners and operators world-wide will benefit from Caterpillar Marine Power Systems’ capability to provide an increased range of integrated marine solutions for main propulsion, electric power generation and auxiliary machinery.
