Jone Olberg Completes Rental SEP Certification

The EAME Rental division is pleased to announce it’s first Certified Rental Professional: Jone Olberg, Rental Manager at PON Equipment Norway. Jone was recognized for his achievement at the Allied Vendor Expo in Malaga, Spain on May 20th where he was awarded the first Certificate to the Foundational Sales Curriculum for Rental under SEP (Sales Effectiveness Process). Jone commented, “Being the first certified rental professional makes me even more proud to work for PON Equipment and to represent Caterpillar’s rental business in Norway.”
The SEP is a learning process of three levels: Foundational, Intermediate and Expert. The Rental foundational level is a 24 course web-based learning program. The program, developed by CATUniversity, includes differentcampuses, directed towards Dealer Sales, Power Systems, PSSR and Rental Personnel.
The certification covers two primary areas: Generic skills based training and knowledge based trainingspecific to the rental business. The Rental SEP certification allows all dealer sales personnel to be permanently, visibly and measurably engaged in ongoing competency developments that produces superior business results. “The Rental SEP certification has forced me to think about what we do everyday, whether it is sales activities or back-office processes. It has also helped me take better care of my employees”.
Caterpillar’s EAME Rental division aims to roll the Rental SEP out over all dealer employees engaged in Rental (whether this is through the Rent-to-Rent or The CAT Rental Store model). We are therefore very pleased with the efforts made to date by the employees of PON Norway who have shown great enthusiasm and commitment to the Rental SEP program. “In Pon Norway we have made the Rental SEP certification mandatory for all employees(from Controller to YardMan) as it creates knowledge, understanding and awareness for the business they work in everyday. We also want our employees to obtain valuable background information of Caterpillar the company, as this is the brand they need to represent. The Rental SEP program allows us to achieve all of this through a single source”. The EAME Rental division thanks Jone Olberg and his team at PON Norway for being true pioneers in this journey.
