Capstone increasingly appealing for Oil & Gas companies
Some ten years ago Pon Power Oil & Gas introduced the first Capstone microturbine on the Dutch Oil & Gas market.
This was achieved in partnership with Wintershall B.V., formerly operating as Clyde Petroleum B.V.
After a period of tests on a non-commercial scale based on a land application, the Capstone concept earned the customer’s trust and the microturbine was subsequently commissioned.
In the meantime Capstone Turbine Corp. USA developed several alternative versions of its microturbine including the “High Humidity” microturbine. This model is provided with specific features to assure consistent high quality system performance under testing off-shore conditions.
It is for very good reasons that the Capstone C65 (65 kW) High Humidity microturbine leads the market today in the North Sea Oil & Gas industries. It is in particular on these smaller, unmanned platforms that the Capstone systems have the edge over conventional gas generators. The systems are widely used especially by Dutch and British Oil & Gas operators.
