Efficiency, the environment and personal safety
Large UPS systems with batteries usually have 92-93% efficiency. Caterpillar UPS’ offer 96-98%, which means significantly lower power consumption and less need for cooling. Conventional UPS’ must also be located in protected environments at a temperature of approx. +22 degrees, while Rotating UPS have a temperature window from -20 degrees to + 40 degrees. Caterpillar UPS emits virtually no returned noise, and has a cos phi of 0.99. This gives a ratio of 1:1.1 dimension between the UPS and diesel generator, which means a very cost-effective solution for customers. Conventional UPS’ with 6 pulse rectification have a ratio of 1:2.5, offering customers significant reductions in the size, fuel consumption, etc for the unit when a CAT UPS is selected.
