A new Environmental Agreement for the period 2011-2017

December 14th 2010 the Norwegian Ministry of the Environment along with 15 organizations signed the new Environmental Agreement for NOx covering the period 2011 to 2017.

This agreement obligates the organizations to facilitate concrete reductions in NOx emissions. The NOx Fund administers the support rates. The extension of the period to 2017 not only focuses on longer lasting measures it also enables for higher support rates.

Among the areas in which it is possible to apply for support from the NOx Fund are marine engines.

Pon Power Scandinavia offers a wide range of engines which can be modified to reduce the NOx emissions.

One of the major developments in reducing NOx emissions is the Marine DNOx®  which is a technology from the automobile industry adapted to the marine industry. The system has been developed in collaboration between Pon Power Scandinavia, the Swedish company STT Emtec, and the Norwegian company AS Nymo.

Marine DNOx® reduces the NOx emission by means of the EGR technology (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). A small amount of the exhaust is recycled, which means a lower peak temperature during the combustion process and thereby reduced formation of NOx.
