January 1st 2011, new emissions legislation has turned into effect in Europe and North America for Industrial Off Road Engines above 130 kW.

Once again exhaust emissions are radically reduced. A necessity to comply with this legislation is engine exhaust after treatment. Compared to previous Tier 3/Stage IIIA levels, the new Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB standards require a 90 percent reduction in PM (Particular Matters) and a 50 percent decrease in NOx. 

Pon Power Scandinavia is the authorised Caterpillar dealer for industrial engines in Europe. Together with Caterpillar and key customers, the technology has now been tested in the field for almost one year, by Pon Power Scandinavia.

The new engines are now sold into the market on a regular basis. Pon Power Scandinavia has now commenced the work together with CAT and customers to introduce the future Tier 4 Final/Stage 4. The future standard, which will become effective in 2014, will reduce NOx by an additional 40 percent, taking PM (Particular Matters) and NOx emissions to near zero.
