Atlas-Copco exhibits a Cat C9.3 ACERT Tier 4 Interim / Stage IIIB engine at bauma 2010 in its portable compressor.
A prototype of the first Atlas Copco Portable Air compressor unit, the XRHS 366 with a Cat C9.3 ACERT Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB, is displayed this year at bauma at Stand F10/1008.
“We are proud to exhibit this unit at bauma to inform and train our customers,” says John
Hort, vice president of marketing of the Atlas Copco Portable Air Division. “New emissions
legislation has an important impact on the design of our compressors. We want our customers
to be aware of this impact so they can plan their future purchases.”
Atlas Copco, a leader in portable compressors and construction-related products and tools, is continuing to work closely with Caterpillar to safeguard the compliancy of the next phase of compressors for the latest, as well as upcoming, emission legislation. For many years Atlas Copco has incorporated Cat engines into its compressors. “Sustainable productivity is the motto we follow in our company,” explains Hort. “For many years we have focussed on delivering products and solutions that increase our customers' productivity in a sustainable manner. However, this latest change is an important upgrade for all our machines well into the future.”
Partnering with Caterpillar for the best solution
The Atlas Copco Portable Air Division has evaluated two existing technologies to comply with new emissions regulations: Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) combined with particulate filter (DPF). The NOx Reduction System (the Caterpillar solution to emissions compliance) was chosen as the best solution for Atlas Copco customers.
