Pon Power secures contract with VARD

Pon Power AS has signed a contract for the delivery of main engines and emergency generators to a new hybrid Service Operation Vessel (SOV). This is the first vessel of its kind built by the Asian company Cyan Renewables.

Pon Power’s delivery is based on Cat 3512E engines with Variable Speed. A variable speed DC solution can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30%, in addition to reducing noise, lowering maintenance costs, and extending the lifespan of the generators. This solution allows the vessel to operate with just one generator set at variable speed, along with batteries, within an extended operational profile window during work in wind farms.

The vessel is developed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway, in close cooperation with Cyan Renewables.
